Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and supporting production teams to minimize downtime. Additionally this role plays an important role in install, process, and operation qualification of new equipment..

The ideal candidate is detail orientated, solutions-focused and dependable with a strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position requires flexibility to support second and third shift.


Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment

  • Inspect machinery regularly to identify wear, malfunction, or safety risks

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, HVAC, automation, plc, pid and hydraulic issues

  • Repair or replace worn components to restore equipment performance

  • Ensure machines are operating within manufacturer specifications


Production Support

  • Respond quickly to maintenance requests to minimize production downtime

  • Read and interpret work orders to ensure equipment is properly prepared for production demands

  • Assist production teams with machine setup and operational troubleshooting

  • Ensure equipment is operating at optimal efficiency during production runs


Equipment Installation & Upgrades

  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment

  • Inspect newly delivered machinery to ensure it meets operational and safety standards

  • Ensure proper alignment, fitting, and functionality during installation

  • Support equipment upgrades and improvements to increase reliability


Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and GMP manufacturing standards

  • Ensure equipment is safe for operation and free from mechanical hazards

  • Educate and guide production team members on safe equipment usage

  • Ensure tools and equipment are used according to manufacturer guidelines


Training & Collaboration

  • Provide guidance to operators on proper equipment operation

  • Support cross-training initiatives within the maintenance and production teams

  • Work collaboratively with production supervisors and leadership to resolve technical issues

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance equipment performance


Documentation & Maintenance Records

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed

  • Track equipment service history and identify patterns of recurring issues

  • Provide recommendations for equipment replacement when repair is no longer efficient

  • Assist leadership in evaluating equipment performance and reliability


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or mechanical repair

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hvac and hydraulic systems

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams

  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems and maintenance tracking

  • Basic understanding of PLC systems and automated manufacturing equipment

  • Experience working in food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, or GMP-regulated environments preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

  • Physical ability to lift equipment parts, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment


Desired Technical Skills

  • PLC troubleshooting (Allen Bradley or similar systems)

  • Proficient in Microsoft/Google 

  • Proficiency in NetSuite

  • Electrical diagnostics and repair, hvac, strong hand tool use/knowledge

  • Conveyor system maintenance

  • Packaging equipment maintenance

  • Food or nutraceutical manufacturing equipment experience

  • Preventative maintenance planning systems (CMMS experience preferred)

  • Mechanical fabrication or welding experience (a plus)
