Position Summary
The Quality Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for ensuring that Gummi World’s products meet or exceed all quality and regulatory standards. This role requires being present on the production floor the majority of the day to monitor processes, perform inspections, and resolve issues in real time. The Quality Manager oversees daily QA/QC operations, leads root cause analysis for deviations, and ensures rapid, effective corrective actions. This position requires the ability to work with speed, precision, and organization while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
On-the-Floor Quality Leadership
• Be physically present on the production floor most of the day, monitoring operations and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
• Proactively identify potential quality concerns and intervene before they become issues.
• Serve as the primary on-site quality contact for production staff.
Quality Operations & Compliance
• Oversee daily quality control activities for raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products.
• Maintain compliance with cGMP, HACCP, FSMA, CFR 111, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Ensure testing equipment is calibrated, maintained, and audit-ready at all times.
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action
• Lead and document thorough root cause investigations for non-conformances, OOS results, and customer complaints.
• Develop and implement timely and effective CAPAs to prevent recurrence.
• Partner with Production, R&D, and Maintenance to eliminate systemic issues.
Auditing & Documentation
• Conduct internal audits and support external regulatory and customer audits.
• Maintain accurate and complete quality documentation, including batch records and test results.
• Participate in supplier qualification, inspections, and raw material approvals.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
• Work cross-functionally to improve processes, reduce defects, and increase efficiency.
• Support new product development and validation with strong quality integration.
• Promote a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Team Leadership & Training
• Supervise, mentor, and develop QA/QC staff.
• Train production personnel on quality standards, GMP, and compliance procedures.
• Maintain clear communication and strong teamwork across departments.
Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
• 4–7 years of experience in a Quality role within food, nutraceutical, or dietary supplement manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, HACCP, FSMA, and CFR 111.
• Proven experience with root cause analysis and corrective action programs.
• Ability to work with urgency, stay highly organized, and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with FDA, NSF, SQF, or third-party audits preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, quality systems, and ERP software (NetSuite preferred).
• Strong leadership, structure, and communication skills.
